Did the sun “stand still” for Joshua or did it “stop shining”? This article suggests that the Hebrew text may mean the sun stopped shining. If so, this is the oldest mention of an eclipse ever discovered. In fact, it can be dated to October 30, 1207 BC. This also, then, can specifically date the reign of Ramesses the Great (Pharoah of Moses’ exodus).
