When you read the Gospels…
Do you imagine yourself amid the events? Have you pictured yourself standing on the beach of the Sea of Galilee during a storm as Jesus walks on the water out to his disciples? Are you hiding behind a tree in the Garden of Gethsemane as Jesus prays? Perhaps you are standing at the doorway as friends lower a disabled man through the roof on a mat.
We enjoy the Gospel stories by visualizing ourselves in the action. On our Israel study trip, you will find yourself considering the biblical account in ways you’ve not done before.

Optional Trip Extensions
Visit the Pantheon, built by Marcus Agrippa, lieutenant of Emperor Augustus. Explore one of the Catacombs where our early brothers and sisters hid from authorities and worshipped our Savior in the darkness of the underground cemeteries. We will explore the massive Colosseum, and the Roman Forum. The Vatican visit will include its amazing museums and, of course, St. Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel.
Lost City of Petra
[Optional Trip Extension]
We will explore the ancient city of Gerasa, modern day Jerash. Here Alexander the Great established a Hellenistic (Greek) city in the second century B.C. Today one can see massive ancient ruins of the largest and best-preserved Roman city in the world. Our visit will also include Mt. Nebo, from where Moses saw the Promised Land knowing he could not enter, Machaerus, the fortress of Herod Antipas, and the place he had John the Baptist imprisoned and beheaded, and of course the famous Red-Rose City of Petra.
& Cairo
[Optional Trip Extension]
Cross the Egyptian border at Taba and enter the Sinai Peninsula, where Moses escaped from Egypt’s Pharoah, and the people wondered for forty years before entering the Promised Land. Follow the route of the Exodus as we travel across the Sinai to the Eastern Orthodox St. Catherine’s Monastery at the base of Mt. Sinai.

The Temple Mount was built by Herod the Great in the 1st C BC – 1st C AD. He built a promenade around the Temple; the Western Wall is part of that promenade.
